Supported private sector participation in global health dialogues on issues such as Universal Health Coverage, access to medicines, non-communicable diseases, value-based health care, and digital health. Assisted U.S. biotech manufacturers in contributing their expertise to solving critical global health challenges.

Coordinated U.S. government interagency processes on issues related to U.S. engagement with the United Nations, including peacekeeping, budget/management reform, and actions in the UN Security Council and General Assembly. White House lead on international LGBT human rights issues.

Managed team responsible for U.S. engagement on sanctions and counterterrorism at the United Nations. Drafted and negotiated major UN Security Council resolutions related to Iran, North Korea, Africa (Somalia, South Sudan, DRC), Libya, and terrorism. Advised U.S. ambassadors to the UN on issues related to sanctions design and implementation. Represented the United States on Sanctions Committees of the UN Security Council. Served on U.S. negotiating team for the Iran nuclear negotiations in Vienna (2015), with responsibility for the UN-related aspects for the Iran nuclear deal.

Managed U.S. participation in the UN-sponsored negotiations on Kosovo's future status. Supported U.S. engagement in the international Contact Group responsible for Balkans policy. Advanced U.S. perspectives in the Kosovo status process, including the necessary conditions for Kosovo's independence.

Coordinated U.S. policy development with respect to Kosovo, including development assistance, U.S. participation in the NATO peacekeeping mission, and day-to-day support to the U.S. diplomatic presence in Kosovo. Advised senior U.S. government officials, orally and in writing, on policy issues related to the U.S. relationship with Kosovo and the surrounding Balkan region.

Responsible for advocating U.S. positions and reporting on developments in Kosovo's central government and provisional institutions. Interacted closely with local political leaders, officials at the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), and other international organizations.

Managed U.S. policy with respect to NATO operations in South Central Europe, including the SFOR (Bosnia) and KFOR (Kosovo) deployments.

Advised Senator Kennedy on a range of international affairs issues. Drafted speeches and Congressional floor statements on various foreign policy topics, including the Senator's principled opposition to the Iraq War.

Helped establish and improve the Kosovo Protection Corps (KPC), a civilian emergency services unit staffed largely by former Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) combatants. Promoted human rights, ethnic tolerance, the rule of law, and the fight against corruption.
