However, from not having… Show more During the time when the Industry was beginning to climb out from the prior years of increased rates, heavy restrictions, and limited product selection, MetLife decided to start a mortgage division. What first appealed to my team about MetLife was that they were a fresh new company with a National Brand and following. MetLife's entrance into he mortgage industry was during a time when getting a mortgage was difficult and often times a very lengthy process. However, from not having been in the business prior, there were no additional restrictions imposed on originating and closing a loan at MetLife. This made the process very streamlined and fast and, because of these factors, we were able to refinance many of our prior clients, and new clients, into better situations when other institutions were unable. However, in 2012 MetLife announced that they would be closing their mortgage division due to continued restrictions in the mortgage industry. Show less

I was very excited at this opportunity as this led me back to be in a true banking atmosphere. I quickly began working closely with all of the local branches and existing clients. My biggest take away was the experience I gained was working with SunTrust’s high net worth clients. This required a higher level of mortgage intelligence and creativity due to the complexity of those transactions. The decision to leave SunTrust was a difficult one, but due to the continued restrictions on lending guidelines being imposed on the bigger banks, it was a needed move to continue to be able to provide the high level of service my team was known for.
