I was the first full-time engineering hire and helped build out the engineering team and culture.

Prototyped and built a career exploration tool for high school students, and while doing so, built an experiential learning and mentorship platform. The platform ended up becoming our primary business.

A scalable online startup incubator. I led development for the platform with a video-based weekly goal setting and feedback system, and peer-to-peer mentoring with 4000+ founders from around the world. We also had distributed online demo days where founders answered questions from investors in real time over live video. We helped introduce co-founders, teams to investors and other physical incubators.

Helping strangers design, build and conceive a startup on a bus, in 72 hours. I recruited and ran the bus from San Francisco to Austin, Texas. We make booking flights on miles easy. You can discover flights or easily compare real-time mileage seat availability with cash tickets, and decide whether to use your miles or pay for a cash ticket. I pitched the concept on a StartupBus, and built the beta product in Rails, MongoDB & JavaScript.

I led the development team for a startup within the global wire service, AFP, to create innovative B2C and B2B2C products. Our first product, Deadline, was a quiz engine that used gaming mechanics to create an addictive social experience, that scaled to 50k actives per day using our custom-written caching libraries for Rails. We then licensed it to companies like Yahoo & ESPN for the Olympics, and later the World Cup. We also created an iPhone app that showed you what was happening in the world through photos.
