The Program and Operations Manager for an organization with the mission to provide a means whereby Black school board members and other Board members responsible for the education of a diverse student population can actively participate in the state and national dialogue to improve educational opportunities for these students, specifically and all students in general.

My first responsibility with the New York State School Boards Association, was to revamp the organization’s customized workshops. The workshops, referred as CIP’s (Custom Improvement Programs) were developed for school boards that wanted training in a specific topic and could attend at a time and location that was convenient for their members to participate. During the period of 1992 through 1994, the program grew from four to five requests a month to thr-foura week. Other duties included designing and facilitating annual board retreats, statewide and regional seminars, workshops, academies and convention programs. I trained veteran school board members to serve as faculty members working with new board members during the Annual New School Board Member Academy weekend In 1993, the Executive Director assigned a team of staff members with the responsibility to develop a superintendent search program, after which, I worked with the Deputy Executive Director to implement the service. We were successful in placing more than thirty(30) superintendents between 1993 and 1997.I authored a number of board development articles, which were published in the monthly newspaper entitled “On Board.” This newspaper, was and still is a widely distributed publication to school board members and school districts throughout the state of New YorkI retired from NYSSBA in March 1996.

My career at Citibank began as a machine operator responsible for process and sending foreign currency payment to countries throughout the world. In 1970, I was promoted to Section Head, in charge of foreign exchange processing, and with the supervision of fifteen people reporting to me. Our department processed more than 400 transactions each day. I was promoted to Assistant Vice President in 1980. In this capacity I supervised staff, managed a number of projects, and conducted a foreign exchange processing training program using technology to process the items. Additionally, this position required extensive travel throughout the country to other Citibank locations to train staff. In 1989, Citibank cited me as an outstanding Civic Minded Employee, and awarded me the opportunity to participate in the bank's Executive Loan Program. This is a program that gives individuals the opportunity to perform civic duties at a site of their choice while receiving total salary and benefits from Citibank. I chose to serve my year on loan at the New York State School Boards Association. I returned to Citibank in 1990, and officially retired in 1992 with twenty-eight(28) years of service.
