As a freelance independent consultant, I have provided both IBM i green screen development (RPG Free) and web development (PHP) for a variety of companies.Most recently I installed Community PHP for IBM i in preparation for moving away from Zend Server. I also installed the stand alone ZendDbi (MariaDB). I am also porting over the current PHP based CRM they are using from Zend Server to a new Apache server running the new Community PHP version.

I was co-owner of a small consulting firm that focused on IBM i software development. I was a hands-on owner and spent the majority of my time writing new applications and finding and fixing bugs in existing programs.Projects:- I have written web services in RPG and PHP that handle both JSON and XML data- I have written PHP batch applications to integrate various web services such as Microsoft Azure and Google Drive with midrange ERP systems- Created PHP product catalog application to allow maintenance of item specific data as well as uploading product images- Installed Vtiger open source applications and integrated it with existing customer data from midrange ERP system - Numerous modifications to BPCS applications in RPG and AS/SET- Developed a suite of RF screens for HARRISDATA ERP to allow for scanning inventory transfers, order picking, and production reporting.- I also ran a helpdesk which was responsible for fixing day to day issues that arose with the client’s BPCS system

My duties involved creating new applications for Conestoga’s Friedman Frontier ERP system asn improving functionality of existing applications.Projects:- I designed and wrote a comprehensive maintenance system. The maintenance department is using the system to handle work order requests, preventive maintenance schedules, downtime reporting, and labor tracking for both vehicles and machinery. This system provides the entire maintenance department with the ability to quickly and easily manage day to day tasks and analyze long term trends.- I created a helpdesk application in PHP that read emails from a designated inbox and automatically created a new helpdesk ticket. The application then allowed the user to review the request and send through a workflow for approval by appropriate parties, assign the ticket to an analyst, and accept resolution information.- I created an external defects tracking system. This set of applications allows the company to store information and pictures regarding defective material received from vendors. When a new defect is logged, the system notifies the inventory manager and the purchasing department with the information needed to take action and follows the defect until proper credit is received.

My duties involved creating new applications for Brenntag’s in house written ERP system, improving functionality of existing systems, and researching possible options to bring Brenntag’s business logic to the web.Project:-Developed an application that allows a group of telemarketers to email important documents from the IFS to potential clients as well as create order requests gained from these new contacts.

As an employee of Hainey Business Systems, I was placed on site as a programmer/analyst at a Lancaster, PA third party healthcare provider. During my placement I was responsible for working as part of a team as well as working individually on helpdesk tickets and smaller programming requests. In this position I also learned to use the AS/400 software TURNOVER.Project:- I worked as part of a team to design, write, and document a new application that handles the enrollment of customers into the then new Medicare Part D prescription plan. The application includes many inquiry programs that were written in RPG. It also includes several reports that are stored in the IFS and automatically emailed to designated recipients.

As a technical consultant, it was my responsibility to work directly with our client’s management and end users to determine the needs and scope of projects. I also wrote functional requirement specifications and system design specifications to document some of these projects.Projects:- I designed, wrote, and documented an Account Information web application that allowed distributors of our client to inquire on invoices, debit memos, credit memos, and chargeback invoices using several different criteria. The selected document could also be printed as an exact duplicate of the original. The real time data was retrieved from the AS/400 BPCS environment using SQL stored procedures in combination with RPG ILE programs.- I wrote an inventory inquiry application in RPG that allowed a client with a home grown system to inquire about the history, customer orders, and location availability for an item, with several different possible criteria to narrow the search. - I wrote three different applications that allowed the use of RF guns to enter data for BPCS specific inventory transactions. The entered data was posted to a data queue and while a receiver program was running posted to the BPCS files. - I have also worked with EDI using Gentran server for Windows to post EDI transactions to an AS/400 using ODBC. I have created new maps to process 850,810,856, and 852 transactions for new customers of our client.
