* I am now a research scientist at Amazon Alexa AI.* My previous research focused on the development and application of machine/deep learning algorithms to healthcare datasets, including electronic medical record data, physiologic waveforms and medical imaging. I started the IJCAI Workshop on Knowledge Discovery in Healthcare Data, which has been held annually at IJCAI since 2016.* PhD in computer science from University of Auckland, New Zealand, focused on the use of artificial intelligence for strategy generation in computer games. * I have experience working in research and development with a mixture of both research/scientific knowledge, as well as strong technical ability and software engineering expertise. During my professional experience I have built software prototypes and proof of concept systems, as well as production level software.* I enjoy participating in competitive machine learning challenges. My team won first place at the 2020 PhysioNet / Computing in Cardiology Challenge and second place at the 2019 PhysioNet Challenge Hackathon. During my PhD, I created a suite of computer poker players, nicknamed Sartre, which earned 1 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals at the 2011 and 2012 AAAI Computer Poker Competitions.
