Worked as part of the Consilience development team to enhance the company’s core product and to extend our core product to satisfy customer needs. The product is implemented using J2EE, Struts, Hibernate, Javascript (jQuery), as well as many other enterprise grade technologiesDesigned and developed a fulltext search feature in our core-product which increased search speed within our application by a factor of 100. Developing this feature required learning the Lucene and Hibernate Search libraries in depth, analyzing the indexing and searching functions to ensure optimal performance, and testing thoroughly to make sure the feature worked on all our supported OS and browser combinations.Integrated the Quartz enterprise scheduling library into our application to give our customers more flexibility when defining the schedules of background system tasks. Developing this feature required learning the Quartz library in depth, developing the scheduling functions and background task execution functions in a way that ensured proper execution in a multi-threaded environment, and utilizing the jQuery JavaScript library to customize the user-interface depending on the scheduling options selected.Worked as the team lead for all Consilience projects for the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health, including the Maven Disease Surveillance System, Maven Hospital Emergency-room Syndromic Surveillance System, the Maven Newborn Screening System, and the Maven Immunization Registry System. Led three other developers and ensured that their work was completed according to strict funding deadlines and satisfied the requirements defined at the outset of the projects.
