Software Engineer
Part of the team that developed and maintained the Cray Performance Measurement and Analysis Tools (CPMAT or craypat) over 10+ high performance computing platforms and 20+ software releases as a part of the Cray platform. Led the exploratory testing effort by focusing on features and regressions that could occur in key applications during a performance analysis workflow. The planning of what to test was driven by what software and system features were changing day-to-day.Developed example applications that targeted features or regressions which improved test coverage and reduced test time.Led user support by working with both internal and external users to analyze and debug their scientific applications, while tracking any issues that resulted. My support work helped us to identify key scientific applications that were both important to our customers, helped improve test coverage, and identified regressions.Developed a continuous build environment for key scientific applications. Because the Cray platform is very closely integrated, it was important to automate the building of applications against known working components of the Cray platform. This test setup helped us identify build issues sooner and provided a cache to test from.Developed several key features that are still being used and built upon. The most difficult feature I worked on enabled the collection and reporting of MPI Collective functions. This allowed a user to evaluate the performance of several communication patterns that could not be evaluated previously.Mentored multiple interns who built internal services that tracked performance and test results over time. I helped with the importing of non-structured data, design discussions, code review, and answering questions.
Staff Engineer
Helped build and maintain a data center, consisting of 100s of servers and 1000s of clients. As a member of a small team, our work was driven by a queue of automated alerts, emails, and calls. This meant my day-to-day job could be anything from billing and sales to linux administrator and network operations. In addition to my data center work I developed and maintained several applications for our customers. One of these was a web service that supplied a support ticketing and inventory system for a computer sales and repair shop. This allowed customers to follow along with their work orders in progress with the closed ticket acting as a bill. Additionally we were able to augment the services their point of sale offered by using that shared data and creating new features in the web service.
Research Intern
Developed an Eclipse plug-in that provided audio feedback when navigating Eclipse's graphical user interface. This helped improve the usability of Eclipse for students with visual disabilities in ways that traditional screen readers could not yet accomplish.Completed as a part of a NSF Grant under Professor Joan Francioni.
Web Developer
Developed several services to provide customers with previews of print advertising given their logo and some other information. This helped automate a process that could take 2 - 4 hours into something that was done in just 1 - 2 minutes, freeing up designers to work on more complex tasks.
Web Developer
Worked on a small team creating a Content Management System used for handling the everyday tasks of staff in a K-12 school. My work focused on tracking and resolving bugs found by our users. By the time I left I had helped reduced the count from several hundred to less than ten.
Web Developer
Worked on a small team building a Business-to-Business web application for a print advertising company. The system was able to replace a number of processes that were previously done in person, over the phone, or by mail.
