At one of my current jobs, I mentor literature, media, and communication students at GA Tech concerning their academic choices. I monitor course selections to help students choose their courses and career paths appropriately. I work one-on-one with each student to provide holistic advising, which means I work with them to make good choices based on who they are and not just what is required. I also work one-on-one with at-risk students. I streamline this academic advising by implementing GA Tech software such as Banner, GradesFirst, and DegreeWorks. Key Accomplishments:Compile course description, upload the information onto the department website, and advertise the courses to create interest.Act as the faculty advisor for the new LMC Ambassador program to encourage community engagement in LMC including career advancement opportunities and alumni outreach. Create and operate LMC Advising Twitter account to provide updates on departmental and school information for majors.

In this position, I taught workplace and technical communication courses. To facilitate learning, I created persuasive and marketable deliverables, including memos, letters, proposals, website design, and presentations for the classroom. I modeled for students how to produce rhetorically sound documents, based on the GA Tech Writing and Communication program’s WOVEN principles (Writing, Oral, Verbal, Electronic, and Nonverbal). I performed daily, weekly, and monthly assessments to meet curriculum objectives for both the classroom and program. Key Accomplishments:Implemented courses based on a client-based projects including the GA Tech Athletic Association and MJ93, a non-profit. I networked with potential employers and facilitated client-meetings, so that students had to create deliverables that mimic work place documents, which meet client expectations for a specific project.Established a business communication program for the Writing and Communication program and organized online curriculum materials to complement in-person course for my own classes. Performed monthly assessments of composition portfolios to meet programmatic standards facilitating the Writing and Communication Program’s accreditation. Participated in composing proposals and grants designed to promote new programs at GA Tech including budgeting. Engaged in on-going scholarly research on rhetoric and medieval and digital composition practices in the form of professional conference presentations and publications.

I utilized program management strategies to create results-driven courses concerning persuasive and professional writing practices for business and engineering students. I created course websites using Wordpress to provide examples of multimodal compositions and produced or complied other online materials such as videos, website resources, blogs, and wikis. I operated as the project manager to encourage team work in the classroom. I managed student work on the university learning management system. I composed a variety of texts using different medias from memos to emails to blogs to videos to reports.Key Accomplishments:Introduced adult learners to persuasive communication practices in the business world through real business communication case studies and practice. Taught a variety of business and technical writing courses on writing across media to writing technologies. Devised business communication and multi-modal composition courses in a range of classroom environments (in-person, computer-based training modules, e-learning, and hybrid). Designed each course to educate adult learners about how the principles of written discourse, rhetoric, and design can be implemented over a variety of media (digital, written, oral, nonverbal).Contributed to the production of a professional communication e-manual and curriculum management wiki (training materials, examples, definitions, and assessments) for the professional communication program.
