I first started working for a start up farm in western Connecticut. Working on the farm is where I found a passion for animals; from raising goslings to feeding goats. Towards the end of my job, I worked with the farm's finances and kept track of their books. The farm, along with several other businesses, is owned by a larger company. The company that owns the farm opened a nonprofit organization in NYC and offered me a job in communications. I now work for the Suzanne von Liebig Institute and the William J. von Liebig Foundation. The Suzanne von Liebig Institute has a wide scope; with pillars ranging from youth education to environmental stewardship to supporting the arts. The Institute's primary focus is helping like-minded organizations by utilizing the 98 acres of land in western CT. Some things we are thinking of using the land for is staff training space for nonprofits, work opportunities for marginalized communities, a wellness space/retreat center, or using the land to create educational programs. Currently, we are in the brainstorming stage, holding community outreach events to get a better idea on how to uplift the community.
