About Julie Marshall

I am a Professor of Communication Disability, at Manchester Metropolitan University, UK and a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) by background. I research and teach about supporting people who experience communication disability and their families/community. I work mainly in under–resourced contexts. I also carry out research to increase understanding how diversity, in all its forms, affects the experience of communication disability and appropriate support needs/ provision.I have worked for over 30 years in the UK and in sub-Saharan Africa, supporting the education of SLTs, other professionals and community members, carrying out research and clinical work, building research and service delivery capacity, and preparing Allied Health Professionals to work in Low- and Middle-Income countries and in the UK.You can find out more about my work here:https://www.mmu.ac.uk/hpsc/our-staff/search/profile/?id=733
