About Justin "Jt" Tamsett

I have a mission to reduce the health care costs across the globe by having more people move and move more often. This will mean my daughter can grow up in a world full of opportunity rather than one where governments and communities have the burden of an ageing, sickening and fattening population. I believe with all my heart this movement should be in a fitness facility and under the guidance of a trained fitness professional.     As an invited speaker outside the national coaching Team, I presented to the NSW & Queensland ARU coaches on leadership. This involved sharing just 3 key traits to lead their team or club: challenge the process in how you do things; look for trends by looking outside the rugby ecosystem; and lead the way by exhibiting the behaviour you want your players to behave.We then delved into strategies to get the coaches'​ teams thriving. This included: giving each player a vitality and a learning environment, which meant minimising incivility, giving feedback, empowering them with decision making and be open and transparent with the direction; setting priorities for the game, week, month or season; develop a culture so that your players can walk off the field after a game, a training session or even a drill where they know the answer to the question: did you win or lose? This is because they understand the objective judgement of performance.The most interesting response I received was when I shared the five dysfunctions of a Team from Patrick Lencioni. The immediate response from the group was how much they didn't know about their players. They now understand the base foundation of any team is trust - deep vulnerable trust. The coaches who attended my session will be working on building this level of trust with their teams and clubs.
