In this current role, I continue to lead much of Conservation International’s global gender programming while also contributing significantly to the institution’s design and implementation of an Environmental and Social Management Framework. Working closely with project teams around the world, I provide guidance and mentoring on safeguard risk screening, social and gender analyses, safeguard-related project improvements, and implementation of gender and safeguard plans. • Instrumental in development of an institutional safeguard framework, including policies and procedures, building staff capacity, and writing and reviewing safeguard plans• Design and deliver field-based training on key safeguarding topics including gender-based violence, prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment, and child protection• Collaborate with project teams to design gender-sensitive and child-friendly grievance mechanisms• Support and mentor field teams to conduct partner due diligence and provide capacity building for gender & safeguard compliance• Responsible for applying a gender tag to all projects, tracking gender ambition and outcomes across the institutional portfolio as a means of advancing our gender monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning

As Conservation International's Gender & Conservation Advisor, I designed and led the organization's efforts to explicitly and strategically address gender across our projects and programs. Through staff trainings, technical support, and development of resources, I helped to ensure that the different conservation-related needs and priorities of women and men are integrated into project design, implementation, and monitoring. I developed innovative, tailored training for hundreds of colleagues around the world, gradually building awareness and skills. • Provided leadership in addressing gender within conservation initiatives and in response to public funding such as the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Green Climate Fund (GCF), USAID, and others• Oversaw a fellowship initiative which supports and advances Indigenous women’s leadership in conservation programming and decision-making within Indigenous communities and organizations• Designed innovative, tailored tools and capacity building for gender-responsive conservation project design, implementation and M&E, training 500+ staff members and partners from more than 20 countries

Andavadoaka, Madagascar

In close collaboration with Malagasy colleagues and local community members, I supported the development of the Velondriake locally managed marine area (LMMA), which includes permanent marine and mangrove reserves, destructive fishing bans, and temporary octopus closures. My primary activities included management capacity building for local conservation leaders, social marketing campaigns to encourage environmentally-friendly practices, and socioeconomic research/monitoring.
