Griffin Centre was my third and final field placement and was an organization of equal opportunities for all of their employees. As a result this placement provided experience working with youth living with multi-diagnosis both one on one and as a team member, always working from a strength based approach.

I was employed by Griffin Centre for a summer position. I worked in the residence as well as the summer program. I completed daily logs and maintained the up keep of the home assisting with daily duties while working front line. I worked as a team member and participated in taking the youth on excursions. During the summer program I assisted with group facilitation focusing on job readiness and employment skills.

Kensington was my second year field placement. I was placed in the primary Autism Program, where I worked along side a team of 4, with 7 youth living with autism. I assisted facilitating activities such as social/life skills groups. I was very much involved in the school as a community. I initialized problem solving with in the class room and outside during lunch and recess hours. I built a strong rapport with each of my students and those within the school. I assisted youth with academic and daily routines, and assisted in maintaining the safety of all students. It was here that I acquired the skill of creating social stories and have utilized this in my following placements

Downsview was my first field placement where I worked along side the teacher in a grade 1/2 split class of 27 students. Here I mainly focused on bullying, problem solving, and emotional regulation. I facilitated activities that worked on team building, self-esteem, and emotional literacy using role play, art therapy, and lessons on emotions using stop signs. I continued this facilitation during classes such as art and physical education, as well as making use of the time spent during recess. I assisted these youth with academics and maintained the safety of the classroom setting.
