After 20 years in planning and economic development Karl started his own UK & International economic development consultancy Kada Research in 2011 (www.kadaresearch.co.uk). He wanted to offer clients affordable, high-quality expertise that is highly tailored to their requirements. He has built a company to do just that.Kada focuses on business growth, low carbon, exports, trade and inward investment, enterprise, inclusive growth & skills, innovation & technology. In October 2024 we opened our second office in Gateshead in the Baltic Quarter. Karl was Director of the Sheffield office (2004-2011) of the ekosgen. Here he led the team, directed many high profile assignments, qualified as a Master Coach with qualifications from the Institute of Leadership and Management. He was first attracted to Sheffield after becoming a Research Assistant at Hallam University in their Centre for Regional, Economic & Social Research (CRESR). After 5 years, Karl moved to ECOTEC (now Ecorys) where he worked in their busy Birmingham office. He was involved in exciting and varied national, regional and International assignments. He came back to Sheffield via Leeds where he established the ECOTEC Leeds office with a colleague. Despite his early interference the office is still open/doing well! Karl is a Chartered Town Planner - he studied at Birmingham Poly where he got a first in town planning (BSc Hons) & Post Graduate level (partly at the University of Grenoble) & has an MPhil in Urban Regeneration (SHU) Karl is a now also a co-chair of the Archer Project with Surriya Falconer. The Archer Project is a place where homeless and vulnerable people can change their lives for the better.
