I moved to Montefiore in 2015 after a long career in private practice. My saying was that "I was dealing mostly with well clients with temporary pain."The change to work with elderly residents in RACF was not one I had considered but it has been life changing.I find it so rewarding to use my expertise as an experienced physiotherapist but also the life skills gained over my years as a health professional in my daily interactions with our residents.I have the opportunity to work with a team to promote functional ability and maximise the independence, safety and confidence of our clients. Montefiore has given me the opportunity to join their leadership programme (2021-2022) and now work in their Dementia Unit as we work to implement the dementia model of resident enablement. I want to inspire the residents I work with to live the best life they can but also to show students on placement how rewarding working in Aged Care can be.
