I work directly with classroom teachers to bring hands on lab experiences to students. Hands on learning is critical for STEM!! I develop hands on curriculum for teachers to use year round.

I worked under Dr. Brian Hentschel. My thesis identified a suite of genes that are associated with metamorphic competency in the tube worm Phragmatopoma California. As a leading member of the Marine Ecology and Biology Student Association (MEBSA), I participated in community outreach and educational events to bring awareness to local marine research.

I worked under Dr Deborah Yelon whose lab focused on the genetics of cardiac development in zebrafish. I maintained stocks of multiple strains of zebrafish and conducted general maintenance of zebrafish aquaria systems. At the bench I performed PCR, gel electrophoresis, spawning/rearing zebrafish, quarantine room protocols, in situ hybridization.
