As Senior Designer with the Brand Communications team, I focused on working collaboratively across disciplines to shape the Steelcase brand through all touch points in order to strategically support the goals of the business.

Experience Design and Creative Consulting. Primarily focused on small businesses, start-ups, and non-profits; executing projects that promote social responsibility, health and environmental stewardship.

As lead designer for TEDxGrandRapids, I work with a fiercely independent, but highly collaborative group of creative professionals to deliver a high-quality, engaging day of learning, networking and community building.

Founded in 2009, Design For Good has been creating social change through a series of design-centered initiatives. Developed by AIGA and supported by our West Michigan chapter, DFG WM works to unite creative professionals and empower them to give their time and talents to solve foundational challenges within our own community.

By working closely with AIGA West MI's Board of Directors, I strive to foster a rich, on-going conversation in the West Michigan design community with a more precise focus on growing, sustaining, and listening to our membership.

As Social Media Director of AIGA West Michigan I populated multiple online accounts, in a unified voice for our local chapter of AIGA, to provide resources and information to our members at all levels. While actively promoting and planning local events in conjunction with our Programming and Sustainability Directors, I also managed an on-going conversation with various chapters, educators and designers throughout the country.

Helped to define and articulate the framework for a new engagement from Future, a firm that takes a radical approach to driving positive change by uniting the powers of design, enterprise, and humanity.Future Project Expedition, a new vision of Project M (www.projectmlab.com/), launched its first project abroad. FPX: Iceland was a two-week moving workshop in consisting of 6 cyclists, designers, doers, and inventors, which rode approximately 300 miles from Hofn to Reykjavik, June 2012.After spending 8 days taking in the landscape, people and culture of Iceland, the team spent its remaining six days in Reykjavik prototyping project ideas, with the intention forming a new self-sustaining enterprise. The result was Share Cycle, an international community driven, eco-conscious laundromat and business incubator space that fosters conversation and cultural exchange among locals and travelers in downtown Reykjavik.

At GVSU Institutional Marketing, I worked to implement the integrated marketing plan by working to design and produce internal and external publications, banners, and collateral materials. I also focused on the use of environmentally friendly materials & printing methods and tracked results to reduce cost to the university and the environment.

At KCAD, I had the opportunity to teach an immersive learning experience, leading 16 students through an advanced typography course, focused on self-directed research based on existing and potential issues in contemporary culture.

Part of a work-trade volunteer program, I helped with SFCB projects ranging from internal signage to event invitations, for access to printing equipment and training.

A 131 year old letterpress poster shop and the longest continually operating shop of it's kind, Hatch Show Print is now owned and operated by the Country Music Hall of Fame as a non-profit, working museum. I had the good fortune of working with and learning from some of the best and most talented printers, artists and historians in the field. At Hatch they love to say "the designer is the printer and the printer is the designer" - and I was just that, having the full responsibility of taking professional client work from start to finish.

Editing and production of a guide to sustainable living and green businesses in San Francisco, helping schools and non-profit organizations raise thousands of dollars.

Assisted the director of marketing with project ideas. Developed and implemented store, building and event signange, and print advertising.

Assisted creative department with project assets, typesetting, edits, photo searches, file archiving and presentation mock-ups. I regularly participated in internal office and creative meetings and contributed to brainstorming and project execution on accounts like YMCA of Michigan,Wells Fargo, Doctors Medical Center of Modesto and Michigan Radio, an affiliate of National Public Radio.

Founding and leading the MSU student chapter of AIGA, which is dedicated to helping students to take the first step in demonstrating a commitment to their professional interest and in understanding the design profession.
