My main work was to fabricate nanocomplexes and custom block copolymers that will be inserted in the display pixels and emit coloured lights. During the co-op term at a fast-paced startup company, I learned how to manage time and develp concise project plans to meet priorities and objectives.Relevant Theories Studied: Optics, Organic Chemistry, Emulsions, Polymer Chemistry, Circuits and Electronics Show less -

Specifically, the main areas of interests include nanostructured material developments for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFC), lithium ion (Li-ion) batteries and metal-air batteries.During my work term, I have developed synthesis methods of 5 high-voltage cathode materials for Li-ion and Zinc-air batteries, mainly via calcination method. In battery manufacturing industry, high temperature calcination method is commonly used to synthesize layered cathode materials. However, high operating temperature has a lot of disadvantages, including loss of material, high operation cost and low battery efficiency. My main project goal was to develop synthesis routes of layered cathode materials (i.e. Li-NMC622) that requires lower calcination temperature and shorter synthsis duration. Show less -
Nanomaterials Research AssistantWaterloo Institute For Nanotechnology May 2017 - Aug 2017Waterloo, OntarioThe research group's core aim was to develop applications incorporating the use of sustainable nanomaterials (SN) in consumer goods, biomedical science, environment, water and energy. Especially, my project focused on modification of chitosan and synthesizing colloidal complexes with phosphorylated cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) to prepare nanocomplexes that could be used for functional food applications.
