Specifically, the main areas of interests include nanostructured material developments for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFC), lithium ion (Li-ion) batteries and metal-air batteries.During my work term, I have developed synthesis methods of 5 high-voltage cathode materials for Li-ion and Zinc-air batteries, mainly via calcination method. In battery manufacturing industry, high temperature calcination method is commonly used to synthesize layered cathode materials. However, high operating temperature has a lot of disadvantages, including loss of material, high operation cost and low battery efficiency. My main project goal was to develop synthesis routes of layered cathode materials (i.e. Li-NMC622) that requires lower calcination temperature and shorter synthsis duration. Show less
