Reiki Council is the lead body for Reiki practitioners in the UK, working on setting and maintaining standards in Reiki professional treatment practice. This includes guiding education - we set a core curriculum based on the National Occupational Standards (NOS) which we also contributed to the creation of. This core curriculum formed the basis of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) core curriculum for Reiki. We have an ongoing relationship with CNHC in promoting Reiki as an integrative healthcare option.

I am volunteering for Hands Together Ludlow to offer nutritional support and advice. They have a Community Larder, which receives surplus food from local shops and makes it available for a £1.00 donation to anyone who wishes to make use of it. Sometimes there is a glut of some types of foods, or unusual things arrive, so I can offer recipe suggestions.HTL also has referrals from Social Prescribing, so I offer free nutrition coaching sessions to support people who need some guidance on healthy eating.

With personal experience of living with Type 2 diabetes, most of the time in remission, I have a passion for supporting people whose blood sugar is too high to restore balance. This includes people who are pre-diabetic because this is the best time to improve health and avoid the difficulties that follow a Type 2 diabetes diagnosis.Bringing my many years of understanding of human health and healing, my approach to this is compassionate and grounded. Drawing on my own experience of adapting recipes and finding the simplest ways to restore health I am able to offer creative solutions to dietary issues.

The Reiki Faculty project is an international team of Reiki masters who want to see Reiki creating a better worldWe all participated in a workshop called 'Reiki for a Better World' in various countries, facilitated by Phyllis Furumoto, Ben Haggard and Jessica Palin. We were all excited and inspired by the new ways of thinking and being the Regenerative concepts this workshop introduced us to. We came together, encouraged by Ben, to explore whether there are ways we can bring this way of shifting our thinking, being and level of energy to other Reiki practitioners, so that they can achieve more of their potential and contribution in the world.After a process of development with Ben Haggard, we developed our first product: a series of online workshops called Mastery in Life which explores the Four Aspects of Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki through Regenerative Frameworks.

The Reiki Healthcare Research Trust supports research, education and specialist projects exploring the practice of Reiki as an evidence-based therapy in integrated healthcare settings. We believe Reiki, delivered professionally alongside medicine, improves the quality of life for people with a wide range of conditions, including complex and life-threatening illnesses.We are a non-profit organisation that has been inspired by two very special Reiki projects born in the UK, Reiki Medic-Care and Connecting Reiki with Medicine. Our goal, working with other non-profit organisations and charities, is to become central to the promotion and support of research and education for Reiki in clinical settings in the UK and other countries.We rely entirely on donations, corporate support and legacies to support and develop our work and services.This year we have started a series of webinars to inform medical staff about Reiki and Reiki practitioners about what is required of them to work integratively alongside medical professionals.

Whether you are new to Reiki or have been practising for years I am keen to encourage and support your development. We always face challenges in life and Reiki can help us to 'weather the storm' instead of becoming overwhelmed.I offer currently Reiki treatments at 'The Rainbow' in Ludlow. I teach beginners Reiki classes in Ludlow and Birmingham. I'm also open to invitations to teach elsewhere. What I am particularly passionate about is supporting Reiki students in their ongoing development. For students whose practice is personal, I offer workshops to deepen their understanding a practice of Reiki, encouraging daily self-practice and Reiki as a life path.For students who are drawn to offering Reiki treatments to a wider circle than their immediate family and friends I offer education about what needs to be considered and how to develop themselves to hold this role. For those who wish to treat the public and make Reiki part of their livelihood I offer a Professional Reiki Practitioner Course that is verified by Reiki Council. This means that anyone successfully completing the course will become a verified Reiki practitioner and can therefore become a Reiki registrant of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council. I also offer ongoing support for professional practitioners through CPD and supervision.I support the development of all Reiki practitioners through courses, workshops, seminars, tutorials and mentoring. Some of this is now online, meaning I can serve you wherever you live in the world!Giving Reiki to animals is also an interest of mine and I'm involved in developing standards for Reiki with animals through Reiki Council.

Giving Reiki treatments is the foundation of the practice of Reiki. With so many years experience I have encountered people with a wide range of health problems. I find Reiki particularly helpful in reaching the underlying cause which usually lies on the mental/emotional level. I find that those I treat become more relaxed, calmer, happier and more resilient to what life throws at us. Reiki is comforting on many levels, for the body, mind and spirit. It can be beneficial at all stages of life, from birth (and even before) to the end of life.

This is a voluntary post, helping to set and maintain standards for professional Reiki treatment practice. The Reiki Register opened on 14 May 2012.

I represented The Reiki Association and Reiki Alliance at Reiki Council meetings giving input to discussions about practitoner standards of practice from the point of view of Usui Shiki Ryoho. I also learned about how while our Reiki styles may differ there is a shared passion for Reiki and for seeing it offered to people in a way that has integrity and is safe.
