About Katie Steele

I am a PhD Candidate in the Department of Psychology at UT Austin, studying the mechanisms underlying human learning and belief formation across the lifespan. The results of my work help to understand what underlies our biases and beliefs about marginalized identities and the capacity for language to shape how we think about social identities and groups. I leverage mixed-methods and applied statistics in my graduate training to understand the ways developmental psychology can inform our understanding of identify-related constructs. My research interests include qualitative and quantitative research design, model evaluation and interpretation, applied and descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, and data visualization in R.
