Arabella Advisors supports philanthropists, foundations, individuals, and companies achieve their social impact visions through strategic support, incubation, and implementation - including fiscal sponsorship. I lead a team of 47 client service staff who collectively manage 189 initiatives and charitable assets of $500 million, serving as outsourced COOs. I am in frequent negotiation with funders, clients, and the boards of our major funds. I also lead our business strategy as it relates to advocacy and growth planning, and serve as an advocacy subject matter expert for our business development team.

Serve as outside counsel to nonprofit clients in areas of tax exemption, governance, contracts, grants, employment law, and enterprise risk management.

• Counseled national 501(c)(3), (c)(4), and SuperPAC on campaign finance, election law, nonprofit tax issues, corporate and governance questions, contracts, grants, intellectual property, employment law, and risk management.• Supervised legal department of up to 5 attorneys and support staff; manage registration and reporting for lobbying and campaign finance activity; engaged outside counsel. Managed Human Resources and Health & Safety program on an interim basis.• Developed guidance, memoranda, policies, and trainings for executive board, staff at all levels, and grassroots partner organizations.

Advised the firm’s clients on the legal issues facing nonprofits including establishing and securing tax exemption for new nonprofit entities, governance and fundraising issues, maximizing advocacy within federal and state laws, and the employment relationship.

• Founded and launched Community Outreach Group (now Scale for Change), a consulting firm that specializes in political canvassing• Hired and managed over 8,000 employees between 2014 and 2018 who collectively conducted outreach to more than 6 million households about elections, legislation, and public health on behalf of Planned Parenthood and other clients• Developed business model to generate over $25 million in revenue (up to $13 million annually)• Drafted or reviewed over 100 contracts for services, individually valued at up to $2.6 million• Created procedures to track staff time and expenditures against a variety of types of reportable activity (express advocacy, lobbying, primary purpose ratio, membership activity, etc.)

• Helped to lead a national campaign that enrolled 64,000 low-income Americans in the Affordable Care Act exchanges through field outreach.• Trained and supervised community organizers and canvass teams in 18 cities across 8 states.• Developed a chase program for incomplete enrollments during surprise Special Enrollment Period.• Supervised operations and voter contact vendors and coordinated with PPFA national team on finance, operations, HR, and legal strategy.

• Managed a department of 10 employees, who delivered over 100 trainings per year and trained over 15,000 people• Designed programming to meet income targets for 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) dollars that raised $1.5 million annually• Developed relationships with movement leaders and industry experts to grow the scale and prestige of our program• Established our Data & Analytics training program as the national clearing-house for data-savvy campaign staff• Coached United We Dream, Adios Arpaio, and the Homeowners Defense League on campaign strategy

• Elected Chris Coons to U.S. Senate (targeted defensive open seat), elected John Carney to the U.S. House of Representatives (red-to-blue), and picked up 2 additional seats in the state legislature• Directed a field program that contacted half a million voters• Served as on-the-record spokesperson for the Democratic party and candidates• Coached 83 campaigns with strategy, message development, vendor coordination, data management, and training• Managed outside counsel to ensure compliance with state and federal campaign finance regulations and to complete federal, state, and joint fundraising reports

Directed regional field program and managed political contacts for San Joaquin County, which contains 55% of voters in the congressional district. Managed Stockton regional headquarters and staff, including 5 organizers, interns, and a $70,000 paid canvass operation. Coordinated Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) efforts with Presidential, State Senate, Assembly, and Mayoral candidates, which knocked almost 70,000 doors county-wide on GOTV weekend, and won an NRCC top targeted seat by 11 points.

Responsible for identifying, recruiting, and training grassroots volunteers and interns to carry out voter contact activities, which included phonebanks, door-to-door canvasses, and community outreach activities with daily and weekly reporting. Oversaw a regional steering committee, planned and executed Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV) operations in Portsmouth and surrounding towns. Following a come-from-behind victory in the New Hampshire primary, traveled to Wilmington, DE; Virginia Beach VA; Fort Worth, TX; and Pittsburgh, PA to develop and implement rapid-fire field programs.
