As a member of the Online & Hybrid Programs (OHP) Team, I've gained valuable insight into the online student experience while applying my student affairs background to a new setting. I'm currently developing an onboarding course for our current and future OHPs to help graduate students acclimate to U-M and online learning. My goals for the onboarding course include developing student self-efficacy, creating community, and giving students the confidence to pursue their degrees and any services that will support them as Michigan students.I'm also working on a guide to help students navigate online exam proctoring so that students and OHPs achieve academic integrity and better communication with one another. Lastly, I've been creating "Journey Maps" for our MasterTrack learner cohorts so that they understand course requirements and sequences.

My residency took my training and development experience to the next level so that I can now confidently call myself a "learning professional." So far, I've developed 3 internal guides to support LXD's, faculty, and students as they navigate CAI's educational technology and make their coursework more accessible. I'm also helping faculty and staff develop an LXD MOOC series, which will be launched in 2022. To support the series, I've created learner personas and developed series- and course-level learning outcomes using Bloom's Taxonomy. I'm gaining experience with Trello, Adobe Captivate, and H5P and hope to add more software to my repertoire.

As a Senior Admissions Counselor, I helped hire, train, and manage a team of 70+ temporary application reader staff. I also trained new and existing staff on application review by administering hands-on instruction, developing case sets, and providing regular feedback. As a member of the application review & training team, I developed and managed training materials to keep staff up-to-date and help us communicate with our partner units. As the managing FERPA team lead, I led a team of 5 professional staff to process 250+ FERPA requests and improved appointment scheduling through technology, specifically the use of Qualtrics.On our Transfer Team, I assumed leadership by collaborating with the College of Engineering partners and selecting students for admission from the University of Michigan – Shanghai Jiao Tong University Joint Institute (SJTU).Lastly, by June 2021, I achieved a career total of 19,000+ applications evaluated.

In my nearly two years as an Admissions Counselor, I completed 50+ high school visits and attended 10+ college fairs in northern Ohio and 5 counties north of the Ohio border. I individually recruited admitted students through email and handwritten notes while supporting low-income, first-generation college students throughout the admissions process. I achieved 70% yield from Jackson, Calhoun, Monroe, Lenawee, and Hillsdale counties and actively built relationships with the high school guidance counselors in my territories.

In my first admissions role, I advised thousands of prospective students and their families about the admissions process through walk-in advising and by staffing the Call Center. Multiple times per month, I would also present a 45-minute information session to a crowd of 100-200+ people. Outside of my public-facing work, I taught myself Qualtrics to adapt "Call Outs, a recruitment program, to changing communication preferences among high school-age students. I created a sign-up system for this recruitment program that tripled our rate of contact with prospective students. I also helped coordinate over 200 volunteer Student Ambassadors as part of Call Outs.
