NewmanCarpenter.com Newman Carpenter, L.L.C., co-founded by Kathryn Carpenter and Emily Newman in 2020, is an NC-based public health creative agency that provides evidence-based, community-informed health communication materials and strategy to health organization, with the goal of impacting behavior change.

Create, develop, and disseminate health campaigns to support social norm change, raise awareness, and advocate for new methods of male contraception. Develop and lead Youth Advisory Board.

Create and develop campaigns for advocacy and social norm change in male contraception. Analyze and report on survey data, and the create responses to the public based on data. Set up Youth Advisory Board in improve communication and outreach with youth. Facilitate ideation event for industry players.

Teach UNC undergraduates Portuguese language and culture. Taught 1-2 courses/semester. Provide tailored one-on-one and group guidance, resources, support, based on individual and group needs, motivations, and strengths.Develop lessons and assessments.Transition curriculum and lessons from in-person to online during Covid-19.

Invited advisor for US State Dept. program (EducationUSA) helping Portuguese students study in the US. Distinguished Representative of Fulbright Portugal at EU/NATO seminar in Brussels and Luxembourg. Teach university classes on English language and American culture. Develop and implement English language and American culture class for elderly Portuguese community members. Lead group of novice Portuguese student-teachers in teaching class. Lead staff, faculty, student discussions on American cultural competency and context, and global cultural competency.

Teach English to Mexican undergraduates and master’s students. Tailor language, classes, and guidance to the needs, abilities, and mindsets of students from low-SES, rural areas, to help them pass entrance exams, work in tourism, and conduct and publish research in English. Lead teacher training sessions for local English teachers. As level leader: Develop course curriculum and assessment, lead group of English language professors in implementation of it.
