Kathy Button, M.Ed. is a Learning Disabilities Specialist with 30 years experience helping struggling learners. She holds a Master's degree in regular and special education from Boston College and an undergraduate degree in psychology from Cornell University. Kathy has training and experience with a wide variety of specialized instructional approaches, including Orton-Gillingham, the Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing Program (LiPS), the Lindamood-Bell Visualizing and Verbalizing Program, Wilson Reading and Wilson Fundations, Project Read programs, Benchmark Word Identification, Handwriting Without Tears, Making Math Real, and Woodin Math. Kathy recently retired from the Institutes for Learning and Development (ILD) where she worked for 14 years, from 2003-2012 and again from 2017-2022. There, she conducted neuropsychological assessments and worked individually with students across the grades who struggled with learning and/or attention difficulties. She was also on the team that developed the curriculum for the SMARTS Executive Function online programs. Kathy's work at ILD was interrupted when she moved with her husband to the Bay Area in California, where she lived from 2012-2017. There, she worked as an educational specialist at Morrissey-Compton Educational Center in Redwood City and as the Learning Services Coordinator at the Carey School in San Mateo. Prior to ILD, Kathy worked as a special educator in both the Arlington, MA and Acton, MA public schools.
