Managing the budgets for science, education, and federal grants

Support and advise department managers and senior management in all aspects of the $260 million budget, providing in-depth fiscal analysis for Library programs. Develop new processes and tools to improve efficiencies and data availability for analysis. Identify corrective actions and controls to help ensure that fiscal targets are met. Work closely with program managers throughout the Library to effectively manage restricted funds and Federal grants. Assist Budget Director with macro budget analyses, including tri-annual reports to the Finance Committee, budget planning, development of core budget assumptions, and staffing analyses and reconciliations. Supervise staff of three fiscalanalysts including interviewing, hiring and training.

Analyzed the $780 million annual county budget to determine whether departments/divisions budgeted efficiently. Organized Council budget workshops, developed presentations, and reported analyses in public meetings. Tracked completion of legislative intent. Gathered disparate information from various sources within county government and outside agencies and translated the information into viable policy alternatives. Determined fiscal impacts of policy proposals and Council decisions and provided ad hoc fiscal analyses for Councilmembers and their aides. Served ascoordinator for the Tourism, Recreation, Cultural and Convention Tax Board. Voting member of redevelopment taxing entity committees. Council representative on various project committees.
