Dr. Katie Root is the ambulatory associate program director for the Internal medicine residency program at UT Health East Texas in Tyler, TX. She serves as the clinic director for the resident continuity clinic and oversee the ambulatory rotations for our internal medicine residents.After receiving her bachelor of science degree in forensic science from Baylor University, she worked at the UT Health Science Center at Tyler for a year as a biomedical research assistant. She then completed her medical education through Ross University School of Medicine, and her internal medicine residency training at LSU Health in Shreveport, Louisiana. After working in primary care for several years, including during her first year as APD for the IM residency program, she decided to go full-time in academics.
