My time on 4th Avenue helped me develop an appreciation for small businesses and the ingenuity of people who run them. Working with such a small group of hard working individuals allowed me to experience a multitude of responsibilities, including taking inventory, setting up displays, organizing products, brainstorming with the owners, writing up ads, and working with money. My ability to think and learn quickly was particularly helpful in a place so full of surprises due to its hands-on nature and dependence on the very few who built it from the bottom. Most importantly, I had the opportunity to communicate with my fellow employees and the very particular people I get to call my fellow Tucsonans.
