I am a skilled communications and brand strategist, editor, and writer specializing in sustainability and energy. I get excited about telling stories and sharing information in ways that inspire and educate others to take action and make ambitious goals achievable. Currently, I’m the Communications Director for the Grid Deployment Office at the US Department of Energy. Prior to that, I was Managing Director of Communications and Development at the Institute for Market Transformation, a nonprofit focused on driving market demand for high-performing buildings.Across projects, I provide strategic direction, striving to ensure the work is useful for its intended audiences and that it has value beyond a report that sits on a shelf. I connect the dots between projects and people both internally and externally so that communications efforts respond to market conditions and provide informed insight to drive action.My work marries my passion for improving our environment with my love of communications. In person and on paper, I get excited about putting puzzle pieces together to effectively tell a story and get to the "so, what?" of it all. Formally, this looks like degrees in sustainable design and journalism. In practice, it has lead me from editorial leadership roles in architectural journalism to cross-organizational and cross-disciplinary communications roles at organizations like IMT and GDO.
