About Katrina Burns

My career started out in 2014, working as a Volunteer Coordinator for 3.5 years. I helped to manage and lead a team of 500 volunteers, managed the onboarding process and developed key training materials for volunteers. I also helped plan and execute multiple events throughout the year. Through this experience, I realized my passion for event planning, public speaking, logistics coordination. I loved being entrepreneurial within the organization and developing new ways of doing things. In 2018, decided to make the pivot in my career and go back to college for a business degree. I made the move from Winnipeg, Canada to Toronto, Canada and went to Ryerson University for a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Entrepreneurship. I also focused my studies and realized that it was a passion of mine. I was part of many clubs on campus including the Ryerson Sales Leadership Program, Ryerson Sales Initative, a key member of the Ryerson Competitive Sales Club, and Toastmasters. Some of my accomplishments include the following:-Ryerson's Next Top Speaker - Top 8-Great Canadian Sales Competition - Top 25% of sales pitches across Canada.-Semi-Finalist for the Northeast Intercollegiate Sales Competition-Bryant University.-So You Think You Can Pitch Competition - 3rd Place-TEK Sales Competition - 3rd PlaceIn my second year of studies, the pandemic happened and I finished my program virtually. During this time I ended up meeting my now husband online. We got engaged in 2022 right before I graduated university. We applied for the K-1 visa that would allow me to move to the US and for us to get married within 90 days. In November 2023 we finally got approved after over 21 months of waiting. I moved to Savannah, Georgia later that month and we were finally able to get married in December of 2023.Never thought I would end up in Savannah but love making this place home. My motto in life has always been to live life as an adventure and this has been the best adventure yet. When I moved to Savannah I had to apply for a work permit. It took about 6 months for me to get my work permit. After a lot of waiting I can officially start the job search. Looking to use my passion for sales and customer service in a future role.
