Support the day to day operations of the foundation including processes management, IT, planning and financials. Focus on knowledge management and evaluation developing a strategy for grantees and foundation board to understand outcomes, community needs and the impact of philanthropic efforts.

As Director of Data for Impact engages with community groups, data stewards, and software developers advancing work of solving complex social problems through systems thinking, design thinking, collaboration and technology. This work includes the development and support of a community data hub; engagement of public, private and philanthropic organizations around using data for problem solving. Engaging community in discussions around information, technology, and change. The goal of this work is to cultivate civic engagement and transformation of public sector and non-profit agencies through organizing and technology work that promotes transparency, efficiency, and effectiveness. DigitalC partners with business, technology and civic leaders to provide strategies and programs so that communities can navigate a pathway that enables 21st century opportunities for all.

Baltimore, Maryland Area

Responsible for the oversight of projects in the public sector including those in workforce, city administration and departments of education. Supported the business development of public sector clients and the application of human centered design (HCD) processes within the practice. Work included training staff on various HCD/Design Thinking methods and the application to public sector work including requirements gathering, journey mapping, story boarding, and project planning. Managed a portfolio of projects including but not limited to the development of systems requirements for public agencies, staekholder and community engagement, design of communication and outreach plans, retreat and strategic planning sessions, data diagnostic and IT planning for public sector agencies.

 Supported Planning Director and Director of Community Life to develop a Recreation and Leisure Assessment to gather community input and desires for short, medium, and long-term initiatives. Coordinated public meetings managing the Taskforce for Recreation and Leisure appointed by the Mayor, and worked with hired consultants to develop the Recreation Study. Development of grant proposals and grant research to find funding to support redesign of Horseshoe Lake Park.

Chicago, Il

Worked with all 42 City departments to create a strategic plan for the City of Chicago’s citywide Geographic Information System (GIS); developed the process for enterprise implementation. Managed an annual $3 million budget, managed eight city staff and five on-site consultants as well as vendor teams for specific projects and applications in development. Developed request for proposals and streamlined procurement process for hiring GIS vendors. Developed Intergovernmental Agreements with the Cook County Assessor’s Office to cost share in the data collection project and the Cook County Recorder of Deeds to share data with the City. Developed over 15 departments specific applications and created new data to improve business processes and systems within City Departments. Secured or managed new data for the City’s strategic initiatives. Collaborated with other City departments on application development and systems integration projects. Awarded ESRI’s Best GIS Award for the State of Illinois in 2002

Assisted in the development, administration, and analysis of a survey measuring the impacts of business incubators on community economic development. Developed of methodology with lead researcher for future evaluation of business incubators. Documentation of research results sent to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for their report on incubators and business development

Developed a community-based Geographic Information System (GIS) to be used to monitor housing and business development activity in the neighborhood and identify locations and properties for economic investment and redevelopment. Implementation of local economic development program Shop Your Block. Support on various economic development and community development programs including block clubs, cleaning programs, building redevelopment.

Recruited and trained minority mentors from Boston University to work with disadvantaged students and “at-risk” girls at Roxbury Middle School. Coordinated and participated in training events for mentors and students. Evaluated progress of mentoring program. Provided counseling and academic tutoring for disadvantaged students from Boston Public Schools high schools. Assisted Project Directors in development of activities and programs for students; led and planned group activities with students.
