My responsibilities in this role included: • Preparing recommendations for prospective drill sites to the competent persons for final review and approval.• Ensuring the smooth execution of site mobilisation and de-mobilisation operations.• Geologic/geotechnical/structural logging of over 6000m of exploratory drilling, including RC, Diamond, Directional/Navi, Offshore and large diameter-style boreholes.• Interpreting and integrating multi-source datasets (borehole logs, assay results, historical mine plans, 2D offshore seismic data, wireline geophysical data and down-hole VSP) for inclusion into the geological and economic models.• Adhering to the appropriate borehole abandonment and rehabilitation procedures.• Using proactive risk evalutions and bowtie analysis to develop a project-specific Safety Management System.• Technical research and report writing for various scoping and feasibility studies.• Presenting illustrative summaries of geological findings to senior members of staff.• Instructing summer interns on geological and geotechnical core logging procedures and safe work practices. During my 1 year of travel I secured a summer teaching position for Arrowtown Mining Company. My position involved educating others on gold prospecting in the Otago region of South Island, New Zealand. I was taught various gold panning/sluicing techniques by local prospectors when working in the Pilbara, so it gave me great pleasure to pass on this knowledge to others.
