Outdoor Outreach's mission is to connect youth to the trans-formative power of the outdoors through the vision that 'Youth everywhere will be inspired by the outdoors to play, learn, serve, and share.Served for 1 year as Program Coordinator, running, recruiting, and developing programming with Military youth and families throughout San Diego. Completed over 2,000 hrs to complete service year. Responsible for development, tracking, recruitment, and overseeing partnerships with programs, including volunteer program. Selected to lead, supervise, coach, mentor, discipline and positively influence seven young adults ranging in age from 18-24 in a team based service program for 10 monthsProjects: - Death Valley National Park: assisted NPS Rangers with repairing/erosion control of drainage wall, removed exotic vegetation and invasive species from various locations around the park, repaired and maintained various trails including Dune preservation and the salt beds, removed litter from various trails left by park goers, and supported in cleaning, restoring, and preserving historical remains at various sites. - Habitat for Humanity - Park City: assisted with the development of repair program surveys including marketing materials and outreach recruitment, door to door canvassing, and assisted with support of the donation/thrift store, ReStore.- Boys and Girls Club Camp Mendocino: assisted facility management in preparing for upcoming camp season by repairing and maintaining 4 miles of hiking trails, building steps into existing trail, removing invasive species from property, thinning underbrush for fire reduction in forested areas, and repainting cabins and lodge facilities. - YMCA Camp Orkila: assisted camp facilitators and local logger by clearing underbrush throughout the camp land, cut and bucked large trees and filled over 10 cords of bucked material, and assisted with revegetation of 15 activity areas.
