MECHANICAL ENGINEER(Kimberly Clark-Flint Site) I work as a Mechanical Engineer in Kimberly Clarks Coleshills mill, I am part of the support team i manage a number of maintenance technicians who look after 4 compound asset areas; we are responsible for the safety of all persons and plant, which includes maintenance as well as project work. We review all areas weekly prioritising work in advance, using system tools such as SAP R3,Office,CMMS systems to capture work. We effectively plan work, manage backlog and maintenance schedules. I have been involved in the pilot team that was instrumental in the transition of LEAN Manufacturing, during the 4 year journey within Kimberly Clark, we have exercised many of the tools associated with it, including, Four Step Problem Solving and Kaizen events this engaged continual improvements across our Lines. The pilot scheme increased productivity on our least efficient rolled asset by 20% reducing waste across all our activities, Measured through K.P.I’s We use the Lean model daily for delivering accurate data, (speed waste delay) this enables the continuous improvement program to be affective. I am a member of the P2020 team which is fortunate to travel to other factories to help problem solve, coach and take part in brainstorming activities, this has enable continual growth within European mills. The role reports directly to the senior site engineer responsibilities include key practices such as (RCFA) root cause failure analysis to aid predictive maintenance for improving equipment reliability, Pm’s schedules are created and implemented through the sturdy of potential failure modes, i am also Permit Authoriser trained. I authorise parts inventory and financial budgets these are controlled through tiered authorisation levels. The maintenance structure is set around the lean model which is now a more complete cycle engaging all team members. (Day Shift and 24 hr call out)

Day Technician (Kimberly Clark-Flint Site) Work As a member of a maintenance engineering team with relevant mechanical skills providing the maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, setting up of equipment, PM inspection and modifying plant and process related equipment in a safe, cost effective and reliable manner. Time served technician with 25 years experience, able to read and interpret drawings and manuals to aid problem solving.

MANUFACTURING/MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (grade-A1) This Shift role reports directly to the area team leader, the responsibilities include the optimisation of paper making production lines and state of the art PLC and computer controlled equipment.As lead team member you are expected to make on the spot decisions concerning maintenance, breakdowns, quality and manning levels that arise in a high volume facility. This is a demanding role that is very much a hands on position; it includes giving direction to others and working in collaboration with a number of very skilled individuals from a variety of engineering disciplines. Communication is encouraged verbally at shift hand over and is recorded by means of I.T based systems. Day to day activities includes the operation of high speed equipment, replacing chemical bunds to recharge process equipment, handling adhesives/oils/hazardous materials. Preventative maintenance routes, inspection of centre lining targets for runability i.e. speeds, temperature and pressure settings break down recovery and emergency repair types. (Continental shift rota12 hr)

SHIFT CO-ORDINATOR, KIMBERLY CLARK(Kimberly Clark-Sealand Mill) This Shift position reports to the Operations Team Leader, along with four other Shift Coordinators. The position directs the daily work activities of a team of approximately 50 employees (maintenance/production) Provide coaching and resources necessary to attain Mill objectives for safety, quality, costs, productivity, logistics, internal control, housekeeping and human resources for that shift. Ensure compliance with all quality and productivity standards, the customer service standard and all other mill policies and procedures. Identify, evaluate and resolve all production problems.

MEMBER OF PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT TEAM,(Kimberley Clark-Litovel Mill) I was selected as part of a three-man team, to install and commission machines in a new production facility in the Czech Republic for 24 months. This involved the installation and commissioning of the new plant, producing technical literature in the form of instruction manuals for the equipment as aid for training people to operate and maintain the process. The equipment was then evaluated, the product was upgraded, appropriations written and implemented this enabled the machine capability to be lifted to make a higher quality product for the lowest possible cost. Later we set into operation spare part stores associated with manufacturing processes in the mill, detailed monthly preventative maintenance schedule were produced for all machines underlining daily checks that required attention (lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc these tasks proved to increase the reliability of the equipment and reduce machine stops.

MECHANICAL MAINTAINER OPERATOR, KIMBERLY CLARK(Kimberly Clark-Sealand Mill Site) My duties, included working in a team orientated environment observing and diagnosing quality relate problems, following maintenance schedules and lubrication procedures, Providing skills required for making on the spot repairs on high speed converting and packaging machine and state of the art textile lines, in a clean room production environment.

SENIOR MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN, SHARP MANUFACTURING COMPANY Responsible for maintaining free flow conveyor systems, programmable logic controller, AC/DC drives, sequence optical detectors, rotary screw air compressors and associated equipment, pneumatic controls, hydraulic systems mechanical drives, electro-mechanical conveyor drives, heavy presses, pipe work machining small jigs welding and fabrication.(Mixture shift and day rota)

SHIFT FITTER, BRYMBO STEELWORKSHeavy Mechanical Maintenance Steel Industry. My duties entailed the day to day running of the primary mill, eg daily checks of the two stage compressors, oil levels in main drive gear boxes, water pumps, hydraulic packs, pneumatic systems, maintaining chemical rigs etc.I have the relevant technical ability for maintaining electric arc furnaces' hot rolling mills, walking beam furnace, hot saws etc. If a breakdown developed, I am trained to be able to identify and evaluate the condition of the problem using a logical methodology, and repair the machinery to safely resume manufacturing of the product in the fastest time possible.4 YEAR MECHANICAL APPRENTICESHIP, BRYMBO STEEL WORKSI completed a recognised indentured apprenticeship in mechanical engineering,I completed a one year broad based training in Maintenance skills, Mechanical/Electrical, EITB Certificate of basic training. Then a 3 year course consisting of modules, I am certificated up to level 3 NVQ in the following modules: Machining, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Sheet metal, Welding, Mechanical drives, Pipe cutting and joining, Plant installation.C and G, ONC, HNC, HND, BSC.
