Working with Dr. Arnold Barnett to study the airline policies of filling all seats vs. leaving the middle seat empty during the COVID-19 epidemic. Used Monte Carlo Simulation (in Python) to determine the safety of flying with both policies.

I focused on the whisper quiet heat pump project for my internship at Bosch Heating and Cooling North America. I identified potential noise reduction methods, and then implemented and tested these methods. The results of the test were analyzed to determine the most impactful methods. In order to complete these tests, I also designed, built, and qualified acoustic equipment for a noise, vibration, and harshness laboratory. In addition to this work, I also assessed the performance of a Wi-Fi thermostat mobile application and collaborated with the supplier to improve the user experience.

At Sanofi Genzyme, I gained exposure to working in an FDA compliant facility. Working within the FDA guidelines, I completed a project that removed a safety issue from the ethanol transfer operation that is also estimated to save 200 man-hours annually. As part of this project, and for several other projects, I generated commissioning and qualification documentation that was required to implement the changes. Additionally, I completed engineering studies that verified the effectiveness of cleaning and system integrity improvements. I also completed operations excellence projects to implement a visual schedule for capture operations that included a delay analysis process to identify common delays.

Sensor Fuzed Smart Weapon Production:• Supported safety, delivery, and continuous improvement of SFW components.• Used DMAIC problem solving approach to solve production issues.Implemented a standardized user torque calibration system throughout the manufacturing facility that allows for real time analysis.• Recorded and documented standard work times for various manufacturing processes.• Observed manufacturing processes with known issues and implemented ways to error-proof.• Analyzed new cable assembly process and made improvements to double production.Orion Multipurpose Crew Exploration Vehicle Avcoat® Heat Shield Program:• Supported production of the thermal protection reentry system for NASA and Lockheed Martin’s EM-1 test flight.• Created a system to track molded Avcoat® blocks throughout the manufacturing process.• Worked with production team to identify and prevent defects.• Conducted experiments for NASA Engineering and Safety Committee panel to improve strength characteristic of Avcoat® thermal protection system.

• Researched historical manufacturing data for material use patterns and began system for improving control of inventory stocking levels.• Evaluated design methodology for spring type washers and investigated preform step of manufacturing process.• Performed various engineering functions to assist department with product realization.

• Designed and drafted custom industrial packaging using SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Worked with materials including polyurethane foam, polyethylene foam, corrugated cardboard, and wood.• Collected quality control data from patented Drop-N-Tell product. Conducted DOE with springs to improve functionality of product.• Experimented with new adhesives to improve production quality.• Planned the implementation of a new strategic facility layout to utilize unused portion of facility.
