The ClimateBase Fellowship provides an intense deep dive into climate challenges and solutions across energy, industrial, transport, health, agriculture and more. The 3-month program provides experts to educate and a large cohort of peers to build capstone projects. I am using this knowledge and network to tackle opportunities touching climate and health.

Hired by startups to drive opportunity validation, product ideation and business modeling, using lean startup techniques:- Client: StartupOS, launched from my incubation work at SVB -- Design and strategy for a two-sided solution to democratize startup success. Encapsulated best practice (eg lean startup experiments) in easy-to-use tools, to make measurable a founder’s progress towards Product Market Fit (PMF). Use these measures to standardize an investor view of pre-revenue traction, modeled as a “startup investability score”.- Client: an expert network, previously used by innovation teams and corporate development -- hired to extend their offerings to a new customer base: product management teams needing to validate strategy against new customer base.- Client: child mental health startup commercializing university IP that jumpstarts parent engagement in vulnerable populations. Driving customer validation, business model and technology decisions.- Client: healthcare informatics startup innovating in precision cardiology treatment thru EHR data. Driving customer validation and business model decisions.- Fractional CPO for a 4-yr old Asia-based fintech company to develop its US organization, begin US customer development and product definition, and deliver patents. Offerings in new classes of asset-backed securities, to enable new types of financing for SME's by pooling and monitoring future cashflows. Technology is pure enterprise blockchain together with IOT customized for each vertical.- Client: post-ICO blockchain technology company to discover and validate new verticals and business models for their privacy and anonymous shopping technology. Delivered research and opportunities in auto sales and insurance.

Founding board member of Ziru Dance, which has grown to produce the Silicon Valley Dance Festival, operates a dance company tackling DEI issues including Anti-Asian Hate, and has pioneered east/west exchanges with greater China, benefiting professional dancers and choreographers as well as up-and-coming artists.

- Built a team of product managers for concept validation via Design Thinking across Market & User Research, and User Experience design. We delivered 6 pitches in 20 months on future TV/streaming, automotive AI-driven services, and smart home ecosystem, with 2 receiving funding for proof of concept, anticipating major industry trends including voice AI (like Amazon Fire TV), unified switching (like Caavo), and “skinny bundle” live TV streaming (like DirecTV NOW).- Led team of engineers, designers and PM’s for Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) connected car safety concept based on machine learning of video and accelerometer- Partnership: was recruited by HQ to help LG work better with external partners, share risk on new concepts —bridging Business Model Canvas and Design Thinking across French and Korean cultures to discover and validate an opportunity in streaming and home IOT- Projects included a European partnership for TV set-top streaming experience, and a vehicle safety V2V network which does not require 5G or DSRC.

I was product owner in the webOS conversion from mobile to LG's smart TV, which won many awards including Red Dot for design and Verge's "Best Comeback". In particular I drove the "bean bird" intuitive and fun first use experience (OOBE), and the re-imagined input switching approach.“…easily the most sophisticated and intuitive smart TV platform on the market today” -- Telegraph

Drove engagement with our large partner, LG, on deriving requirements for a webOS TV platform. Acted as a central point for bridging relationships for knowledge transfer. Created a custom workflow in Jira to coordinate the product management activities on both sides. LG acquired webOS in Mar 2013.

Drove process for the open sourcing of webOS, the innovative mobile platform created by Palm, including:- Internal process for preparing and releasing previously closed source, with the ability to continue some closed-source development. Co-created an innovative internal git gateway front-ending github.- Community-facing policy and process for accepting contributions, including extensive work with legal counsel and the Linux Foundation. Modeled closely on the Linux DCO to be attractive to community, while still providing the sponsor HP with appropriate rights.Also handled product management aspects of the open sourcing including messaging and requirements, working together with the chief architect.Co-developed a method for managing staggered overlapping OS releases using timeboxed flows, to solve implementation challenges Palm faced. Integrated flows including strategic planning / visioning, requirements, release planning and software/hardware coordination.Co-developed a method for aligning Execs, PM, UX and Engineering on requirements using a dual-level backlog, compatible with Greenhopper / Jira for Agile.

Long before zoom, envisioned remote collaboration as an immersive, engaging and more efficient experience, using virtual worlds that bring a sense of presence, gesture, and wide-open sharing. We learned painful lessons (audio matters more than video, friction in multi-user is deadly). We helped big orgs deliver better on agile teams, onboarding and even Veterans therapy.- Delivered 18 releases in 34 months using Agile methods of a Virtual Reality collaboration product using VOIP/video/screen‐sharing, offering both cloud and on-premise delivery, with mobile and desktop clients - Expanded product line from cloud service to enterprise on-premise, grew revenue 70%. Customers included Chevron, Fidelity, US Army, US Navy, US Air Force, and Lockheed Martin

Product and Strategy: Co‐created the company's CDN vision, evangelized it to partners, and built proof‐of‐concept demos that were instrumental in Inktomi's decision to acquire Webspective for $106 million, 5x return to investors

Wore many hats:- Principal Consultant: Lead largest professional services engagement, an 18‐month, $2 million project with Motorola in Hong Kong, training a 40‐person international team and delivering applications on schedule- “Demo Team”: Coded overnight demos integrating live mainframe systems with modern UI’s and presented to audiences of Fortune 2000 CEO's and CIO's, received standing ovations- Product Management: Drove creation of dev tools product line, used for mission critical applications by customers such as HP, John Deere and United Technologies/RatheonWe sold to over 50 fortune 500 companies, product still in use long after OEC went public (1995) and was acquired by Borland in 1996.
