Adult learning, public health, health literacy, social justice, and health equity are passions of mine. The core of my professional journey has been working to blend adult learning and public health concepts to build the capacity of individuals, communities, and systems. Over the past 26 years, I have had the honor to work in various public health settings, including health care. The areas of health literacy, professional development, adult and community learning, the patient-provider relationship, and policy and process development are of particular interest to me. This includes critical thinking, social determinants of health, shared decision making, team based care, and motivational interviewing.
