- Back in 2003-4 the audio-visual and home automation industry was largely dominated by electricians. With some market research it was confirmed that there was a need for a client and solutions focused company... So 5thCorner - The Tech Republik was born.- My co-founding responsibility was business development, sales, marketing and growth for both the mid-to-high-end residential and commercial sectors. Sales were mainly generated from relationships established with architects, developers and client referrals.- Our point of differentiation was largely due to our ability to articulate the benefits of technology easily and present them in a visually-appealing, itemised, solutions proposal. Our solutions provided functionality that was practical and people actually used and enjoyed. Our after-sales support and accountability was second to none and our likeable and approachable staff plus our polished, underground 'cool' branding all contributed to our success.- We built the first architecturally designed technology lounge of its kind in the world, to demonstrate client solutions. With a dual purpose, the tech lounge also functioned as a high-end, cutting-edge venue, attracting clients such as BMW and the 48 hour film festival for product launches and releases.- With our unique approach, we made a big impact on the industry. As such I was elected to Clipsal's (now Schneider Electric) Integrator Advisory Board - to help steer new product development and innovation and represent the interests of the industry nationally.
