Managing DirectorDack Motor Group Feb 2020 - Feb 2021Lincoln, England, United KingdomDack Motor Group provides independent vehicle services to the domestic and commercial markets across four main offerings: service, sales, rental and vehicle conversions. As a result of its continued growth, the company moved to larger premises in 2019 to house a 20 bay workshop, up to 100 used cars and it’s growing fleet of rental vehicles.Joining the company in February 2020 was an exciting time, as the business planned to expand across the Midlands with specialist sites. In preparation for this, my focus was to create a scalable structure and drive improvements of its operations, sales, marketing, people and finance across all four business areas.Despite all the challenges of the Coronavirus pandemic, as a result of clear direction, some restructuring, improvement of skills and operations, we achieved a 45% increase in monthly revenue, 91% operational efficiency and 19% stronger gross margin by Oct/Nov ‘20 compared to the average month in Q1. The gained recognition for this by winning one of Lincolnshire’ top business of the year awards. -
Non Exec DirectorAlmond Financial Jun 2018 - Mar 2020Lincoln, United KingdomAlmond Financial specialises in helping people and families plan their financial futures; whether that's planning for retirement or designing investment strategies. My involvement focussed on helping the owner cement a clear and strategic direction around marketing, operations, finance, and future growth with technology and digital process at the forefront. With a fresh approach to both its service and marketing efforts; the company achieved a great local reputation resulting in a fast-growing client base and superseding its own financial objectives. Then, through the quality of its team and sheer relentlessness to succeed, the company ended its first year as one of the Network's top five fast-growing firms in the East Midlands, but was then the fastest growing firm by the end of its second year - a true and deserved recognition for all their effort. -
Managing Director, Co-OwnerMotor Delivery Sep 2017 - Jan 2020Lincoln, United KingdomMotor Delivery launched to help the emerging market of online car dealerships overcome the many operational headaches faced around the arrangement of customer delivery. Being an MD in a start-up business my role was very hands-on with wide involvement in; the development of revenue, the development of operations and our teams, the development of the platform and the management of financial controls. At the time the platform was the industry's first fully integrated end-to-end delivery management solution, automatically taking Dealerships' online orders and placing them into the diaries of their chosen delivery partner(s). The system then kept the dealership and its customer automatically updated during the day of delivery with progress. Until this point dealerships relied on their administration teams to follow the cumbersome, inefficient and costly process of contacting logistics firms directly to negotiate rates, schedules and get updates to then pass onto their customer.Key achievements included; - Raising over £150,000 of seed investment.- Building a team that facilitated over 500 deliveries a month.- Being shortlisted for 2019 Lincolnshire tech product of the year. -
Managing Director, Co-OwnerSpiral Media Mar 2010 - Aug 2018Lincoln, United KingdomSpiral Media was built into a leading digital agency offering web design, web development and online marketing services. It supported companies across the U.K. looking to improve and grow their businesses through a variety of online channels and tools.I joined when the company had built only four websites; with a desire to create a successful business and leading regional name. My time started by calling businesses across Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, and South Yorkshire setting up appointments before then taking an early operational lead on the business to oversee its continual growth.Fast forward eight years and the company developed a specialist reputation with a team of 15 professionals who helped over 200 businesses; from timber merchants through to veterinary clinics with their online goals. They launched new brands, carried out rebranding exercises, designed and built integrated multi-channel eCommerce stores and rolled out vast amounts of successful online marketing campaigns.Growing an agency required continuous networking mixed with a variety of promotional methods, continual development and leadership of our growing team, maintaining close relationships with our clients and strategic partners, continual development of our processes to remain efficient as well as maintaining awareness of industry and competitor shifts to stay ahead of the curve. The company was eventually sold in August 2018 where I then launched a tech-lead logistics business within the automotive sector. -
Uk Account ManagerAvg Technologies Jun 2008 - Mar 2010Newark, England, United KingdomAVG was experiencing fast-growth as an emerging brand in the antivirus security market. Made popular for its free product, the company invested heavily into the growth of its business and enterprise solutions to compete more aggressively against the likes of Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky and Sophos. My initial involvement was to provide desk sales support to around 500 resellers which included; IT repair businesses, high street computer stores, internet retailers, wholesale/distribution centres and commercial IT equipment suppliers. My role then evolved into field sales and channel development, which included working door to door along the renowned London electronics patch of Tottenham Court Rd through to delivering product sales training to some of our resellers' sales teams. It was a fantastic experience at an exciting time for the company. During my time I took the monthly sales revenue of my resellers from £5,000 to in excess of £70,000 in monthly sales.I was then approached with an opportunity to join a start-up Web Design company. Following a one-week trial cold calling and creating appointments, I decided to leave AVG in pursuit of building a business from the ground up. -
It Project CoordinatorLincolnshire Co-Op Aug 2007 - Jun 2008Lincoln, England, United KingdomI was given the responsibility to plan and oversee the roll-out of the first automatic stock replenishment system throughout all of the food stores across the county. The system was built in partnership with an external software house before being handed over to the internal IT team within the Coop.Main responsibilities included: - Organised and delivered training days- Planned implementation of the system- Oversaw ongoing support of food store teams- Worked with the development team on fault finding- Reported on progress, issues, feedback and noticeable trends to senior managementWe experienced natural resistance to change from a lot of the teams within the stores, so this was a great opportunity to not only practice effective training techniques but to also in developing the mindset and trust in the desired operational gains and long term objectives.
