I work as a Broadcast Engineer at Dock10. For this role I have proven to be a multidisciplined technologist who is able to work and provide day to day support across various technologies and Shows being recorded in the Studios. Which means I am aware of their responsibilities, procedures and protocols. ○ I can monitor and control incoming and outgoing real time and file based content traffic. ○ Finally I can also keep on top of all MCR system statuses and alarms, assessing performance and identifying issues and problems.● Respond to Incidents○ I make sure I respond quickly to incidents with the ability to be able to prioritise each incident.○ I ensure I am fulfilling the customer service requirements by responding to the alarms, identifying problem, finding solutions, updating tickets and either fixing the problem or escalating the issue where appropriate.● Projects and Upgrades○ Design and plan system upgrades.○ Manage a team to deliver a technology project from conception through to delivery.○ Manage finance budgets, raise POs, authorise expenditure in line with authority levels and processes.● Upgrade systems○ Design and install system upgrades, bug-fix isolation, software, and application testing and updating.● Continuous Improvement○ Keep up to date with technology and industry developments, always seeking to improve work practices and processes and personal performance.

For my role I was responsible for taking on ‘Statement of Need’ requests, prioritising the projects and finding a solution which works for the SON and the Stakeholder who submitted it. I was the functional lead for developing the monitoring systems, transferring raw data into useable monitoring systems for the BSC. Previously I worked for Cloudbass as a vision and broadcast engineer, on jobs I was responsible for delivering high quality technology support and picture quality. Cloudbass is an outside broadcast company, and I mainly dealt with football matches and was the lead field engineer for touring cars on ITV4. I am currently working for adi.tv in Preston. I have worked here for little over 6 months as a broadcast engineer. I began working for adi.tv a month before graduating from Liverpool John Moores Uni with a 1st class Honours Degree. As well as being a broadcast engineer, I represent and work as a guarantee engineer at Everton Football Club on Home match days for adi.Some of my key tasks as both positions, in the MCR, galleries and outside broadcasts include:● setting up gallery equipment for transmission and editing○ For example this could mean setting up the multiviewer, rewiring macs, routing the correct resources into the correct gallery, setting up makitos (both encoder and decoders)● designing and setting up audio and video circuits○ This could be routing commentary or clean FX through the sound desk and through an audio matrix to embed/de-embed audio to video.● installing multimedia hardware, software and other digital broadcast technology systems○ Possibly updating firmware, finding the correct programs for certain jobs, installing an ingest system, building databases.● setting up and operating links between studios and OB units○ As a guarantee engineer I could be plugging up the OB, and sending feeds into football clubs, or as a broadcast engineer sending the correct program from our gallery at adi to the correct club.● vision mixing (editing programmes live as they are being transmitted or recorded)○ This is a rare job for me personally at adi, however I have had plenty of training throughout university, and if needed as a backup procedure in case encoders fail.● testing and servicing equipment○ Due to helping set up and run galleries, all equipment needs to be in working order. Therefore we test all equipment before use. If there is a fault I will have to repair it as quick as possible or find a solution to the fault.● Finding and repairing technical faults as quickly as possible, with minimum loss of service.

Helping with Equipment, Health and Safety, Transport, Errands.E.g, When working on the independent film set of 'Milner', I was asked to keep the actors informed of when they were needed, keeping the paper work in order, such as scripts. As well as taking photos of the set to help with consistency,and other jobs like getting equipment and refreshments.I worked as a runner on a radio show during univeristy. The radio show was created as a halloween hoax, as a different take on H.G Wells’, War of the Worlds. In liverpool they played the show out, pretending aliens were coming to earth and to make it more realistic, the show arranged for a lazer to be shone into the sky, like a beam of light.When working on this project, i worked closely with Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, who have recently been awarded with best directors at Sundance Festival.
