As a Communications Intern with the Office of Undergraduate Research, I spent my time at the heart of UT's research community. I ran social media for the office and worked to increase engagement with students and other facets of the University. I also created posters to promote events and wrote copy for an event page on the website. Beyond the confines of the office, I spoke to potential students about Undergraduate Research and reported from a student research symposium.

Crafted social media calendars, monthly reports, and participated in brainstorm sessions. Also, wrote press releases, pitches, and searched for relevant media outlets.

Researched potential activities for client events, potential bloggers to review client products, and wrote press releases.

Chattanooga, Tennessee Area

As an intern at Elder's Ace Hardware, I have helped launch a re-branding campaign, ran several Facebook pages, and helped set up for events put on by the company. I also write, film, and edit 'How-To' videos to put on the company's website and social media platforms.

Knoxville, Tennessee Area

I was a contributing writer for the Arts & Culture section of the Daily Beacon, UT's official newspaper. As a writer I was responsible for contributing ideas, contacting and interviewing sources, and adhering to deadlines. I also learned how to adjust my work based on my editor's critiques. The topics of my stories varied from previews for the Knoxville Symphony to features on the University's Cosplay Club.

Signal Mountain, Tennessee

I ran the cash register, cleaned the front of the store, and was in charge of filling and cleaning the popcorn machine. I also showed customers where products were placed in the store. If able, I would also help the customer make an informed decision about which product to purchase. In this position, I learned how to interact with a variety of people and how to manage conflict with customers and coworkers.
