Profile bio

About Kenneth Day

No matter how much you learn in life, it just points out how much you don't know.I've been in computer operations and help-desk positions my whole life. Mainly mainframe and AS400 support. Company's outsourcing their operations has lead me to live in Montana, Texas, Missouri, and now Nebraska.I was able to get my Masters degree in Management of Information Systems due to the online program at Bellevue University. 12 hr work schedules rarely fix into classroom schedules and moving around the country meant starting over at a new school each time. I've since added a second Master in Project management to my skill set. Being in charge of the Nelnet Data Center involved equipment refreshes, adding new capacity and facilitating the ever growing needs of the fast paced financial industry the Nelnet is a key player in.I enjoy the fast pace of data-center operations and was given the opportunity to become a member of the critical infrastructure team at Info Group. It's like being "Scotty" in the engine room of the Enterprise. The engines control how fast the ship moves just like critical systems control if the company is in business or not. Disaster preparedness and redundant systems are the life blood of any company's IT department and the daily challenges confronting us keep life interesting.I installed a structured cabling system to handle 10, 40 & 100GB fiber speeds to Nelnets server and storage arrays. The time to market has been greatly decreased by the ease at which new equipment can be racked and connected to 9K switches and SAN's Studying subjects for a degree is much different than what often happens in the field. I look forward to applying some of my book knowledge but also learning from the experts that have been doing it for awhile. New challenges are always an adventure and being part of the "change" process is a fulfilling experience.Specialties: Team building, motivating others through unconventional means, Thinking "outside" the box and challenging the "Ney" sayers that are stuck in Group Think. Customer service, dedication to 110%

Listed skills include Customer Service, Team Building, Data Center, Cisco Technologies, and 11 others.
