I volunteered as a swim instructor for my swim club. Over the years, I have instructed my team's pre-competitive and early-competitive swim groups consisting of swimmers mostly between the ages of 9 and 10. As the Quartermaster, I was assigned to keep track of all the materials needed for the activities at NYLT. It was my duty to make sure every activity was set up with the correct materials on time. As one of the few members of the camp's support staff, it was my job to respond directly to the assistant senior patrol leader, helping them to carry out their duties and filling in for the troop guides when required.

As a Troop Guide, I was assigned to a patrol of 7 high-school-aged scouts with the purpose of guiding them through the camp activities, resolving conflicts between patrol members, monitoring their behavior, and fostering their growth as a team. Responding directly to the assistant senior patrol leader, it was my duty to watch over my assigned patrol during the day and report their progress to the rest of the staff.
