Senior Data Modeler / Senior Data Engineer

Boston, Ma

Part of team working to standardize data across the enterprise into a canonical model aligned with ACORD, and to assess the data in Liberty’s legacy Snowflake environment to determine what should be migrated to the new Snowflake environment.- Informatica’s retirement of their data lineage tool created an impediment to the team migrating Liberty’s legacy data into the new Snowflake environment. To fill this gap, designed and developed a custom solution using Oracle and SQL Server to extract and express column-level data lineage from the ETL configured in Informatica PowerCenter, giving visibility to all transformations applied to each column at every step between the originating source and final target. Starting from scratch, enabled column-level data lineage support for ~90% of the legacy Snowflake ETL data in 5 months before transitioning the project to another team as part of a contractor consolidation initiative.- The sudden departure of the team member responsible for effecting changes to Liberty’s mainframe DB2 data model exposed both the complexity of the required process as well as the business risk of the process being undocumented and understood by only a single person. Asked by leadership to re-establish the capability to handle these change requests and eliminate the single-owner business continuity risk. Partnered with all the teams involved to understand each role and needs; defined and documented the extensive and complex end-to-end process; trained and supervised other team members to successfully manage change requests.
