Very few things are as exciting as being ‘there’ at the start of something new. One of my favorite parts of being an IP attorney is working with creative individuals and teams to identify needs and develop solutions into new products and markets. I have extensive experience in all aspects of building, asserting, and defending IP portfolios. Working with businesses of all different sizes and maturity levels, I’ve learned that successful IP strategies are built around each business’ unique plans and resources. IP needs to be an active team player with business leaders, R&D teams, marketing and others in order to understand the business landscape, proactively identify issues, and help guide teams around obstacles towards their goals. I'm lucky enough to be able to work with talented inventors and teams across the country and around the world in France, Switzerland, Ireland, India and China.I enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, and I hate wasting anything, especially time. It’s the one thing we all have too little of. In my roles as an individual contributor and as a manager, I’ve always looked for opportunities to be more efficient. My roles and responsibilities have expanded to include Legal/IP Operations activities that improved efficiency, saved money and improved portfolio management capabilities, including: selecting, implementing and managing various technology solutions for document management, docketing, and IP searching. Technical Experience: chemistry • polymers • medical implants • composite materials • sealants • adhesives • medical devices • sensors • infection detection and diagnostic systems • clinical decision support and data analytics systems • wound care • textiles • films • coatings • biologics • drug delivery • pain management • medicinal chemistry • combination products • manufacturing processes and equipmentProfessional Skills: IP Portfolio Strategy and Management • Global Patent Prosecution • Innovation Management, Including OUS R&D/Innovation Teams • Product Clearance and Freedom to Operate • IP Litigation • Oppositions • Licensing • Drafting and Negotiating Agreements • Trade Secret Management and Audits • Competitive Intelligence and Landscaping • IP Analytics • IP Licensing and Agreements • Due Diligence • Business Development Acquisitions and Divestitures • Trademark Protection • Marketing and Publication Review • Technology Management • Organizational and Communications Skills • Working in a Highly Matrixed Organization • Operational Excellence • Change Management
