Working as a Java Software Engineer mostly on Spring Boot RESTful apps. Some of our apps are message consumers using RabbitMQ. There is a lot of Pivotal influence at Garmin and we utilize many Spring projects. We deploy to Pivotal Cloud Foundry and use multiple data centers.I like to develop using Spring Tool Suite, but would like to give Visual Studio Code a serious try sometime. Of course, I've never heard an InelliJ user complain, but so far I have not made that leap.

I am a Java developer working on the middleware between the UI and mainframe for financial websites. Using Spring, the team I am on develops the Java for website and RESTful interfaces. We use Velocity as our HTML and JSON parser. Source is stored in Git and integrated with Jenkins for our builds.I consider myself lucky to work with a great software architect, manager, and team of developers. At the end of the day, that is what makes work rewarding.

Currently spend most of my development time on RESTful web services and other Java based solutions. The team I'm on lets the business needs drive the technology used which requires a lot of flexibility in the development area. One day I might be on SQL Server and the next day on DB2. Most projects require Java, but sometimes I'm loading Visual Studio to change C++ code. If there is a technology being used at DST, someone within the row I sit is probably using it.

Spent my first year out of college doing COBOL on the health insurance side. Then spent the next year working directly with the actuaries on the life insurance side using C, Visual Basic and even a little APL.
