Willemstad, Curacao

Project manager for the national COVID response support team for Curacao. Curacao was the global hot spot for the COVID-19 pandemic during this time. The team consisted of 81 world-class ICU physicians, nurses, and specialists who gave everything they had for the people of Curacao. It was an incredible experience to work with these outstanding professionals!

Guyana

I managed daily and strategic health, safety, and environmental matters across the mining complex in Guyana, with two direct reports and 100 people under supervision. Main initiatives include: ☛ Providing mentorship and know-how across all levels of the organization, including the leadership team, overall assurance, and due diligence of site management concerning HSE requirements.☛ Developing daily and weekly HSE project reports for clients and corporate offices. ☛ Overseeing and analyzing front-line crew activities to make an immediate impact and bring safety culture to a higher level by decreasing risk tolerance and improving their understanding of risk and consequences.☛ Optimizing available resources within budget while achieving the highest safety levels

Punta Rincon

Previously, I was in charge of all safety aspects of a Port and Power Plant complex, with jurisdiction over 5000+ people. I have managed and mentored a team of 14 safety officers specialized in power generation, process and export plant, and port operations. Activities included:☛ Maintaining highest levels of team readiness; developing mining risk assessments and utilizing a risk-based approach to operational readiness.☛ Providing think and safety felt leadership across all organizational verticals, focusing on hands-on activities due to the large workforce.☛ Developing mining, processing and power station operational procedures, and communication plans.☛ Providing support to the IH Officer in developing the operational strategy on the mine site.☛ Creating and executing operational training programs for the development of core skills, HAZID, safety reps, near-miss reporting, right to refuse.☛ Developing the Safety training team in collaboration with the training superintendent; led the team in high-potential incident investigations.

Panama

Initially started as a Safety Systems Superintendent pre-commissioning and start-up, during simultaneous construction of a 300MW power plant and copper concentrate distribution process and dedicated port facility. Moved to supervise Power Plant Commissioning operations, as the unit was required to come online first and provide the mine with sufficient power.Activities included:☛ Developing and evaluating team readiness.☛ Strategy development for THINK and safety leadership.☛ Developing mining risk assessments and risk-based approach to operational readiness.☛ Creating mining, processing, and power station operational procedures and communication plans.☛ Providing support to the IH Officer in developing the operational strategy on the mine site.☛ Developing and executing operational training programs for the development of core skills, HAZID, safety reps, near-miss reporting, right to refuse.☛ Collaborating with the Training Superintendent on developing the Safety Training Team.

St. Kitts & Nevis

During this consulting tenure, I helped numerous small to medium size Oil & Gas companies to develop required HSSE documentation for projects in Panama, Ghana, Egypt, Angola, Nigeria, and Mexico.I have applied previous experience from those markets to deliver impeccable documents that are in line with local regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Activities included: ☛ Creating behavior-based safety programs, safe work procedures, HAZOP examinations, standard operating procedures, permit to work systems, job hazard awareness, incident investigation, and root cause analysis.☛ Providing remote support to project HSE teams during rollout and provided 3rd party independent reviews of safety-critical documentation such as QRA’s, HAZOP’s, and Emergency Response Plans.

I was in charge of HSE activities for the Wells team in Angola, where I collaborated with the Team Manager and Drilling superintendents. Furthermore, I provided overall HSE leadership to bring Angolan operations in line with the highest industry standards.Activities included: ☛ Serving as a focal point for HSE&S consultation and support within the WELLS Operations Team, as well as the primary liaison between functions.☛ Developing HSE practices and behaviors required for effective HSE&S management within operations; led accident investigations.☛ Integrating sustainability objectives from HSE management systems directly to Wells Team, resulting in immediate access to HSE&S consultation and support.☛ Performing safety analysis by systematically evaluating jobs, tasks, processes, and procedures to eliminate or reduce risks or hazards.☛ Facilitating contractor management, business continuity management, process safety management, trainee identification and mentoring, systems development, and other processes crucial for project success.

Ghana

As an EHS Lead, I provided EHS support to the Well Engineering team, including:☛ Developing SMS, Compliance, Auditing, Reporting, Incident investigation, Emergency preparedness, and Operational Support.☛ Ensuring compliance with Tullow corporate and local EHS policies, as well as government regulations. ☛ Developed quarterly and annual EHS plans to address gaps and improve performance, and created reporting and data management system to capture all EHS statistics and coordinate reports to all government organizations. ☛ Developed and monitored Well Engineering EHS training requirements and facilitated additional training (on and offsite).☛ Ensured all incidents/accidents are reported and investigated in a timely manner, lessons learned are effectively disseminated across the Ghana and Tullow global operations.☛ Developed practical solutions to support critical environmental challenges – waste management and OOC’s.☛ Collaborated with outside entities on EHS matters: partners, EPA. Established effective relationships with internal stakeholders, service companies, other operators in Ghana, and GNPC.

Office based ES&SR adviser supporting the ES&SR manager for Syria, specifically in Drilling and service operations but also in Gas plant and pipe line operations. Role responsibilities covered 4 drilling rigs, a Gas gathering station, Gas processing plant, 400 person Seismic team, and a 30 person Commissioning team for both facilities, and 8 direct reports.
