UCIS was created as a general agency whose sole purpose is to help agents become better at what they do. As a founding member, I serve as the Chief Operations Officer and am responsible for creating the policies and procedures necessary for the business to operate effectively as well as implementing the core functions of IT, physical plant requirements, state licensing, communications, marketing materials, AIP contracts, and reporting. In support of the agents, I conduct relevant trainings, assist with grower meetings, update our clients on changes within the program and aid in the resolution of policy issues.

I came on board with Crop Pro in their first year of operation and was responsible for the development of a training program for both agents and the loss adjustment staff. I put together a Training and Performance Evaluation Plan (TPEP) for Crop Pro and established processes and procedures to administer the plan. I also compiled the Training and Performance Report (TPER) to measure the effectiveness of our TPEP and develop future trainings. The role also required the creation of a team to administer Continuing Education requirements and event planning. I was the primary author and presenter of training content for the agent and loss adjustment force for this Midwest based AIP. In March of 2015, Crop Pro was acquired by AmTrust Ag and in the following August, AmTrust purchased a larger AIP that already had a Training Department in the corporate headquarters, rendering my department no longer necessary.

At the time I accepted this position, AgriLogic did not have a training department so my initial efforts centered around the development of procedures and processes necessary to deliver an effective training program for agents. I established a procedures manual based upon the Training and Performance Evaluation Plan (TPEP) I submitted for our Standard Reinsurance Agreement with FCIC and assembled a team to administer Continuing Education and reporting requirements. I created and presented the training curriculum for agents and employees across the United States for all MPCI crops and plans of insurance as well as AgriLogic private products. In addition, I was instrumental in the development of marketing materials and brochures from conception to the proofing of the finished product.

I began this position with Midwest Crop Insurance and continued to serve as Underwriting Manager when AgriLogic purchased the processing center in January of 2011. I managed an Underwriting department that provided data entry and underwriting support for over 100 multi-peril crop insurance agents. I trained personnel and established processes to ensure the department met deadlines and complied with FCIC regulations. The agents and employees relied on me to provide solutions to challenges and research crop insurance documents to ensure the correct application of procedures. In addition, I developed and presented training materials for both agents and employees, created brochures and marketing materials, and was involved in the development of crop insurance products.

I began my career with 1st FCS as a Customer Service Representative before moving into the Crop Insurance Coordinator role. During my tenure, I managed a book of MPCI business which included the sale and service of grower’s policies, underwriting, data entry and mapping services. The scope of my responsibilities encompassed the planning and implementation of grower meetings including the development of presentation materials, invitation mailings, and venue arrangements. I served on several different district wide committees and was instrumental in the creation of the in-house tracking system.
