Ms. Sandstrom is a well-known local theater director, writer and public speaker. She began her speaking/theatre career in her hometown of Goshen, Indiana. She then parlayed her wins in local speech and beauty contests into scholarships to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC. After graduating with an AA in theatre she enlisted in the US Army as a Russian Voice Interceptor and studied Russian at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA. Following her 3 year stint in the army, Kim lived for a short time in SF where she became a successful model and spokesperson for Macy's, Levi Strauss and many other stores. She became a SAG and AFTRA member at that time and is a movie, TV, commercial actress to the present time. Kim founded the theatre on her college campus, Warner Pacific in 1984.and directed plays while a student. In 1994 Ms. Sandstrom founded Hillsboro Actors Repertory Theatre.(Wikipedia). Kim had (has) 6 children . Her firstborn child, Diana, was 25 yr old actress, had a routine gall bladder surgery. There were surgical and post surgical errors. Diana died July 25th, 2004, National Patient Safety Day. Since this time, Kim travels with Mothers Against Medical Error. Her clients include: Network 8, Medicare/Dialysis, Oregon Patient Safety Commission, Jacobi Medical Center/Bronx, NY, Master the Possibilities, Radiologist Associates, White House in 2008. Recently named to the Brigham and Womens Patient Safety Advisory Board. She was named a Pediatric Patient Safety Ambassador for PIPSQC. Other professional affiliations: Fl Center for the Blind, LifeSouth Blood Bank, Toastmasters International and many others. She is the director of Celebration Dinner Theater, Damsefly Family Theater Company, Saints on Stage and Faithwriters.com. In January, she was a special invited guest to the World Health Organizations special event featuring President Clinton.
