Under Kim Wright-Violich's leadership, the Charles Schwab-sponsored organization grew from a start-up to the second-largest donor-advised fund (DAF) in the United States. During her tenure, she launched several charitable asset management innovations, including online granting, online risk tolerance and investment horizon assessment tools, the first-ever microfinance guarantee fund using DAF assets, and charitable asset management programs facilitating independent RIAs involvement in custom portfolios. Schwab Charitable (SC), under her leadership, received exceptionally high net-promoter scores from donor/customers and from employees' superior engagement scores. SC continued to grow even through the challenging years 2007-2011, with a compounded annual growth rate approaching 40%, significantly outgrowing peer DAFs. During the recession in 2010, SC grew an astonishing 120% over the prior year. Ms. Wright-Violich is recognized as an influential voice in the industry, and she helped direct an effort among national DAFs to shape the regulations defining and governing DAFs in the Pension Protection Act 2006.
